The FareTec QD Series Leg Traction Splints combine the familiar support of a Hare-style traction splint with FareTec's proprietary Hex Lock adjustment system and an integrated ratchet traction mechanism.
Designed for prehospital care and patient transport, the QD system supports and elevates the injured leg while allowing controlled inline traction to be applied through the ankle hitch.
Choose the QD-4 for adult and pediatric applications or the smaller QD-3 for pediatric use.

Fast, Intuitive Hex Lock Adjustment
The QD Series features FareTec's proprietary Hex Lock system, allowing the frame length to be rapidly adjusted to the patient.
Simply position the splint to the required length and rotate the Hex Lock body to secure the frame.
The mechanical design provides a simple, positive method of length adjustment that is easy to identify and operate in demanding prehospital environments.
Controlled Inline Traction
An integrated ratchet mechanism at the distal end of the splint allows traction to be applied gradually through the ankle hitch.
The ratchet gives the responder controlled mechanical adjustment while the frame and support slings cradle the injured extremity.
This traditional Hare-style configuration elevates and supports the leg while maintaining inline traction during stabilization and transport.
Integrated Leg Support System
Four elastic support slings cradle the injured extremity along the frame.
The support system is designed to:
Elevate and support the injured leg
Help maintain alignment during transport
Allow strap placement above and below the suspected fracture site
Minimize unnecessary movement during application
Provide access for reassessment during patient care
An ischial pad and upper-thigh strap stabilize the proximal end of the splint, while the ankle hitch connects the distal extremity to the traction system.

Intended Use
The FareTec QD Leg Traction Splint is intended to provide support and traction for mid-shaft femur fractures during prehospital care and patient transport.
The current FareTec Instructions for Use identify the intended patient groups as:
QD-4: Adults and children with shaft fractures of the femur not involving the knee joint.
QD-3: Pediatric patients with shaft fractures of the femur not involving the knee joint.
The system is intended for use by healthcare professionals and appropriately trained personnel.
Important Clinical Information
The QD Series is intended for mid-shaft femur fractures.
According to the current FareTec Instructions for Use, a traction splint should not be applied for:
Femoral neck fractures
Fracture and/or dislocation involving the knee
Fractured ankle
Confirm the suspected fracture location and assess distal circulation before application.
Traction should be applied gradually according to the current FareTec Instructions for Use, local clinical protocols and the patient's condition.
Reassess distal pulse, movement and sensation following application and continue monitoring during transport.
